What not to do Part two

Next up is a "blog" about Renton real estate. Again, go ahead: click, read, I'll wait.

To the stuff I just said about content, comments and themes, I just have a couple of things to add.

Pictures--get some, and add then to the content you are going to write. You can't sell things over the internet without pictures, and Renton homes are no exception.

Adsense--slap some ads up in that sidebar. Especially if you are building a site on keyword recognition, it's just stupid not to take advantage of the traffic Google sends your way.

Unlike the last post, I do actually have something good to say about this site: Excellent domain name choice. It's perfect for what you are gong for. In fact, I would change the name of the blog itself to Renton Real Estate, and capture both sets of keywords that way. Google loves the h1 on a site almost as much as the domain name. Take advantage of that.

And one more snarky comment-- so don't waste it.

What not to do Part one

I have 2 posts today, after my hiatus, and I have to tell you now that I am going to lay it on the line. My first victim is the "blog" about mortgage rates. Go ahead; click over and read the one entry. I'll wait.

Ok, now that you are back, let me tell you what I would do to that blog. It's a combination of the stuff I have written here before:

Content is King--get some. One entry is not a blog. I may find you by searching for mortgage, but I won't stay if that's all you've got.
Comments--turn them on. Nothing screams Google Bait faster than a "blog" with no comments. Unless you are Seth, and you aren't, so. Turn. Them. On.
Theme--oh no you didn't just throw some stuff up there and leave the default theme on? If your blog is more than 24 hours old, there is no excuse for that, especially if you are already out pounding the pavement for links.

Vendstar

Many people seem to think blogging is a quick, easy, relatively painless way to make a few bucks on the side. Let me assure you again, as I have before, that blogging is hard work, and it can easily take as much effort and time as a full time job. If you are truly looking for an easy job, I recommend something like vendstar vending machines. The machines do require a higher initial investment, but the work is quick and easy after that-- You just refill the machines and collect the money. And you can choose your products from small bouncing balls to trail mix. And the US Dept of Labor says the average hourly income of a vending machine operator is $70.58!

Just Say No

Just say no is wise advice for more than just drugs. It's often sound financial advice as well. For instance, when you find yourself in a pinch, it's usally NOT a good idea to rush into a cash advance or pay day loan. There are exceptions, as there are to most rules, but unless you know for sure that you have a means to pay that loan back without further compromising your financial situation, just don't.

But, if you meet all those other criteria, at least shop around. Cashadvance1500.com can help you do that.

Tell me about your TV

I have pretty much decided that I am getting the fam-fam a new television for Christmas. Since I haven't told dh (he being part of the fam, see?), I can't really ask his opinion. I think I have posted to most of my blogs, hoping to get feedback from passers-by, but not here. So, I'm changing that today.

I want an lcd tv I think. I want one of the flat ones. Maybe. My question is: are they really worth the increase in price. I know I want bigger, so lcd may be my only option. I also want a built in dvd player, I think. And I am a cheapskate, so price is going to be a major factor in my decision.

Thoughts? Opinions? Rants or Raves? Let's hear it!
